Our WILD Story

One day, I was watching my daughter Piper fold laundry. Honestly, she was doing a pretty lousy job. I approached her and said, "If I had hired you to fold these clothes, I’d fire you right now."

You see, my mission is to teach my kids three things in life: love God, love your family, and know how to make a buck. I realized I was failing at that last one.

After I cooled off, I explained to her two ways to make money: "Number one, you can work a ‘job,’ giving your time and effort to someone else’s dream, and they will pay you for that time and effort. Number two, you can become your own boss, set your own hours, and make as much money as you want, but if you don’t work, you don’t eat." She responded, "I like the second option."

After researching various business models and product ideas, we settled on beard oils because I a beard and we were already familiar with essential oils. Plus, my wife Holly is jumping in to run this business. Who better to run it than someone who knows what she likes in a good beard? She clearly married me because of my beard! We did a pilot test run of some products and sold out at an MMA viewing event at a friend’s house. In that moment, West Texas Beard Co. was born.
